Robert Diaz Stresses Olympic Boxing is the lifeblood of the Sport

Matchmaker, Promoter and Boxing Expert Roberto Diaz says it’s absolutely vital and essential that boxing regains its foothold and re-establishes its place, in the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.

At its one hundred and forty fourth session, scheduled for Greece between March 18-20th the International Olympic Committe will consider and decide the case for re-admitting Boxing.  World Boxing, which is based in Switzerland had now gained seventy-two member nation Federations, with more joining all the time. Their President Boris Van Der Vorst gave a powerful and convincing presentation at the World Boxing Council’s Convention in Hamburg, in December.

At the World Boxing Council’s Martes A Cafe, Roberto who is a lifelong devotee of boxing, its administration and its functions at all levels said: ”For boxing to be in the Olympics is not only essential it is a MUST. It’s saved lives and changed the lives of so many young people and it has to continue on to the next generations. Oscar De La Hoya says it all the time, stressing the importance of the medal that represent a  country…you could NEVER give it up. Sugar Ray Leonard, George Foreman, Muhammad Ali all the greats who have come up from this. You establish boxing gyms, you get these young people off of the streets, getting them into something positive. Boxing has proven it year, after year, decade after decade.

”Look at some of the boxers here at the WBC Martes a Cafe…Isaac ”Pitbull Cruz”  Luis ”Pantera” Nery. With these guys, if it was not for boxing what would they be doing? They can’t play baseball or football, so boxing has given them an opportunity to be successful and to represent their country and to give all important motivation to young kids.”
