The World Boxing Council and its President Mauricio Sulaiman, mourn the passing of former champ Greg Haugen at the age of 64, due to complications from cancer.
Greg Haugen was known for his fierce, formidable combative and uncompromising style in the ring, which brought him victories over Ray Mancini, Vinny Paz and Hector “Macho” Camacho.
One of the most memorable moments of his career was his fight against Julio Cesar Chavez at the Azteca Stadium in 1993, where he fought in front of more than 132,000 fans.
In addition to his outstanding professional career, Haugen was known for his bravery and determination, qualities that made him an idol and an icon of endeavor for so many boxing fans.
Greg made his mark in and on the lightweight and super lightweight divisions during the 80s and 90s, finishing his career with 50 fights, each a thriller.
