Puello and Martin BANG on the weight

World Boxing Council super lightweight champion, Dominican Alberto Puello, will face official challenger, Spaniard Sandor Martin, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The fight will be part of the card headlined by Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis vs. Lamont Roach.

The fight marks a collaboration between PBC and Top Rank, the latter representing Spaniard Martin (42-3, 15 KOs). This will be the first defense of Puello (23-0, 10 KOs).
Puello captured the interim WBC super lightweight title against Gary Antuanne Russell, on June 15 of last year at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Puello was promoted to absolute champion when Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs; 1 No-Contest) announced that he would move up a division.
Martin has been the mandatory challenger for over a year. He is well known for his October 2021 win over former four-division champion Mikey Garcia (40-2, 30 KOs).

More than a year later, Martin had a great fight against Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) in which he lost by a close decision.
This Friday, both fighters were face to face at the official weigh-in. Puello registered 139.1 pounds, while Sandor was 139.2 pounds.
