After the long-awaited fight between Misael Rodríguez and Omar Chávez, Rodríguez presented his documentary “48 hours before”, shown at the traditional Tuesday Coffee press conference at Spots and Chips.
On October 6, 2023, moments before the fight between the Mexicans began, the fight in Pachuca, Hidalgo was canceled due to irreconcilable problems. Three months later, on January 25, the fight took place in San Luis Potosí.
The fight scheduled for 10 rounds resulted in Misael “Chino” Rodríguez winning by unanimous decision.
The documentary tells what happened before the fight, actions, the celebration of “Chino” after the fight and all the controversy that accompanied this event.
His mother, Aurelia Olivas Izaguirre, and Ana Laura Gonzalez, a Mexican surfer and partner of the Mexican boxer, also participated in the documentary, sharing their experiences with Misael, as well as their support, for the fight.
Diego Plaza, CEO of FCO Group, commented that part of the intention of the documentary was to show the difficulty and preparation that one goes through to get to a fight. Also, Diego recalled some special editions of the magazine “Líderes de México” dedicated to boxing and presented a new special issue of the magazine dedicated to the WBC.
He presented a prize called “Victory prize”, a recognition for sports idols. The CEO shared that the intention is to continue to make known stories of sports idols through the same medium that created “48 horas antes”, “Victory Media”.
Guadalupe Flores, media director of FCO Group, spoke of the short time that passed between when they learned the story, contacted “El Chino” and decided to make the documentary.
Misael shared the emotion that the documentary produced in him and the importance of inspiring young people through boxing. He took the opportunity to congratulate Lulú Juárez and Yesica Nery Plata.
