Beginnings and Amateur Career
Coming from a large family with 35 siblings, Adames grew up in extreme poverty. At the age of 12, motivated by his brother Ángel Santiago Adames, who was a boxer before suffering an accident, Carlos took up boxing as a way to escape his troubles and seek a better future. His talent led him to amass an impressive amateur record of 273 wins and only 7 losses, earning gold medals in tournaments including the Bolivarian Games and the World Youth Championship.
Professional Career
Adames made his professional debut in 2015 and quickly stood out for his aggressive style and powerful punch. He initially competed in the welterweight and super welterweight divisions, but it was at middleweight that he found his best form.
